If the springs are making a lot of noise, there are some things you can do on your own to avoid a costly bill. A little squeal here and there does not always mean a big problem. Apply some garage door lubricant to the springs and see if it helps. If it does not, there may be a larger issue.
SAFETY CABLES
The two garage door springs work differently. One which has extension springs will have a safety cable which runs through the spring and attach to the wall or ceiling. These cables are a very important safety feature. Extension springs are under a lot of tension and if it breaks, it could cause a serious injury. Safety cables help control broken springs. If you have extension springs on your garage door but cannot find these cables, call a garage door professional and have some installed. You’ll thank yourself later.
